Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in Beech Mountain3

Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in Banner Elk may be our favorite adventurous destination in North Carolina!

It’s a ride that combines the excitement of a roller coaster with the beauty of the mountains.

Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster in Beech Mountain6

Next to the Alpine Coaster is the Wilderness Run Adventure Course, making this two adventures in one!

The Adventure Course is a multi-level ropes course that spans 28 obstacles, featuring cargo nets, swinging logs, and elevated planks set across giant wooden tripods.

Guests begin with harness and helmet fitting, followed by a ground-school safety briefing, before ascending through three difficulty tiers (easy, intermediate, hard) up to about 40 feet off the ground, where you’ll even reach a “crow’s nest” and take a thrilling midair swing.

Designed for ages 8 and up (with a separate children’s track for ages 2 to 5), the adventure takes approximately 1-1/2 hours from check-in through completion. Climbers move at their own pace, choosing when to tackle tougher sections or stick to easier ones.
