With the holiday season quickly approaching, it’s time to put up a freshly cut tree! If you haven’t yet, you’re in luck because high-quality Fraser Fir and other species are found at these amazing Christmas tree farms in North Carolina.

All welcome you to choose and cut your own. Most of these farms are located in Western North Carolina (with two outliers), so make a weekend of it if you’re not within a short drive of these mountain towns.

1. C & J Christmas Trees

1999 Brookshire Rd, Boone

Just 10 minutes from Downtown Boone is this adorable family-owned and operated Christmas tree farm. At C & J Christmas Trees, you can take your pick of trees ranging from table-top size to nine feet tall!

2. Circle C Tree Farms

372 Will Cook Rd, Boone

Circle C Tree Farms offers Christmas trees anywhere from 3-foot to 14-foot and beyond. Arrive ready to find your perfect North Carolina Christmas tree, and one of the friendly Circle C Tree Farms associates will help cut it down for you.

3. Panoramic View Tree Farm

Named for the beautiful panoramic views, Panoramic Tree Farm is the last of our Christmas tree farms in North Carolina’s amazing town of Boone. In addition to picking a tree, have some family fun by feeding and petting their cows, taking a hayride, and riding horses.

4. Bear Valley Farm

Nestled in the Smoky Mountains is a cozy Christmas tree farm where you can pick your very own Fraser Fir. Make a day of it by trying Bear Valley Farm’s old-fashioned cider, coffee, and hot chocolate around a warm fire.

You’ll know you’ve found this Jackson County farm once you spot the little red caboose!

5. Lil’ Grandfather Choose and Cut

15371 NC Hwy 18 South, Laurel Springs

Lil’ Grandfather is the first of two Christmas trees in North Carolina’s Alleghany County that we’ll feature. Here, you can choose from Fraser Fir, Concolor Fir, White Pine, and Blue Spruce Christmas trees.

With free horse rides, hayrides, a hay bale movie theater, handmade crafts, and Santa Claus and his workshop, there is a whole day of fun here for the entire family!

6. Mistletoe Meadows

Support a small local business by visiting Mistletoe Meadows to find your Christmas tree. Mistletoe Farms is an award-winning farm, even chosen to provide the White House tree in 2007!

7. Sandy Hollar Farms

63 Sandy Hollar Ln, Leicester

Located in Leicester (Buncombe County, near Asheville) is the family-owned Sandy Hollar Farms. Open from 9 am to 4 pm, they offer a large selection of Christmas trees.

Come early to enjoy hayrides, their Christmas gift shop, snack shack, and fresh wreaths and garlands!

8. Spillman’s Christmas Tree Farm

1576 Will Coltrane Rd, Sophia

Spillman’s Christmas Tree Farm in Sophia, Randolph County, offers choose and cut Virginia Pine, Carolina Sapphire, and Norway Spruce trees, as well as pre-cut Fraser Fir or White Pine trees.

Once you’ve picked the perfect tree, take a scenic wagon ride overlooking Randleman Lake to end the day!

9. Fir Heaven Sake Christmas Tree Farm

Fir Heaven Sake Christmas Tree Farm is the western-most place we’ll mention, all the way over in Cherokee County. This place offers more than just choosing a tree.

Enjoy a day with sleigh rides with Santa and snap some photos in front of the hand-painted wooden Christmas scenes. Check out their gift shop full of handcrafted goods and coloring books for your kids!

10. Helms Christmas Tree Farm

6345 Christmas Tree Ln, Vale

Pick your favorite tree at Helms in Lincoln County. This is one of few Christmas tree farms in North Carolina that offers the classic Fraser Fir, plus five other tree species!

Leave with your Christmas tree, as well as the many wreaths and garlands they offer.

11. Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm

Boyd Mountain Christmas Tree Farm is home to beautiful trees and easily accessed from Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. This western NC farm even invites Santa Claus to visit during the last two weekends of November, a surprising little treat for younger kids!

Choose your next Fraser Fir Christmas tree from the Smoky Mountain Tree Farm this year! Nestled in the wilderness, but still close to Waynesville and only 30 minutes from Asheville, this farm offers cabins for rent on their property.

When you arrive, you may just be greeted by the resident Yorkshire Terrier, Jesse!
