The Blind Mule

Address: 14 S. Gaston Street, Brevard, NC

We start with the Blind Mule, a downtown Brevard restaurant that feels both cozy and a little unexpected, albeit in the best possible way. Their menu changes often based on the season, but everything we’ve tried has been incredibly creative and packed with flavor.

A few standout dishes include the bao buns, North Carolina trout, beef short rib peposo, duck egg rolls, and the famous Killer Chocolate Cake for dessert. They also have great cocktails and a more intimate atmosphere.

All of the above make this the perfect date-night restaurant or a great spot for a slower evening after an adventurous day.

If you love restaurants that feel locally loved and chef-driven without being overly fancy, this is definitely a spot to add to your Brevard restaurant list.

Quick Shoutout: Speaking of downtown, Brevard’s very own Downtown Chocolates (30 Times Arcade, Brevard, NC) is a must-stop culinary experience. With a wonderful array of truffles at reasonable prices, even the smells are worth stopping for!

The Bohemian is one of Brevard’s most beloved restaurants, known for its European-inspired menu, cozy ambiance, and extensive wine list.

The atmosphere here is chill, with soft indoor lighting and an eclectic garden vibe outside. I highly recommend kicking back and relaxing with drinks and a great meal here!

I have a hard time deciding on my dish at the Bohemian because there are always so many intriguing options!

During previous visits, their Mediterranean-inspired couscous with grilled chicken and Phuket snapper has called my name!

There’s a lot to love about Cedar Mountain, and we’ll also give a shoutout to the nearby Cedar Mountain Canteen Appalachian Cultural Center (10771 Greenville Hwy, Cedar Mountain, NC).

You might never have thought you’d find a Chicago dog in Brevard, North Carolina, but this place doesn’t disappoint. Since I am always on the hunt for the best hot dogs in North Carolina, Corky’s piqued my interest and is worthy of a stop.

Corky’s Dawg House is a fun, casual hot dog restaurant (unless they want to be called a “joint”) that offers creative specialty dogs, sandwiches, and comfort-food favorites.

While you can get an excellent Carolina Dawg here, we highly recommend trying some of their unique combinations.

Fancy a Breakfast Dawg? Or how about the Dirty Mac Dawg, an all-beef hot dog topped with mac n cheese, bacon, chili, and cajun seasoned fries?!

Beyond hot dogs, Corky’s also serves up Italian Beef, meatloaf, and fried bologna sandwiches as well as burgers and barbecue.

Their tacos, rice bowls, and loaded nachos pair perfectly with Ecusta’s craft beer lineup and laid-back outdoor atmosphere.

I had a fantastic serving of “Dang Dang Noodles” during one visit, but I can confirm that their regular menu is just as flavorful and delicious.

Not only is the food and beer good, but the location is unbeatable along the Brevard Greenway and near Pisgah National Forest.

Brevard Pisgah Bakehouse

Pisgah Bakehouse is a must-visit breakfast spot in Pisgah Forest, home to fresh pastries, artisan breads, breakfast sandwiches, and locally roasted coffee.

The line is typically consistent but moving, especially on rainy days, as I once found.

Everything is made from scratch with local and organic ingredients. Their flaky croissants and wood-fired sourdough have earned a loyal following.

I’ve stopped in for a matcha latte, salted caramel danish, and a bowl of their homemade granola and yogurt before hiking nearby, and each bite and sip helped my performance.

Beyond the bakery, Pisgah Bakehouse also serves hearty sandwiches, salads, wood-fired pizzas, soups, and more.

They also curate delicious, fresh, seasonal pasta dishes and chef-driven entrees for dinner.
