Western North Carolina

Western North Carolina is where you’ll find most of our mountains, including the awesome cities and towns around Asheville. We’ll take you out to spots like Mingo Falls in Cherokee and more places found on our NC Bucket List and guide to day trips from Asheville.

Of course, we can’t leave out the waterfall mecca of Brevard. However, you’ll see we’ve fallen in love with more places in this part of the state.

We also share the High Country and fun small towns of Blowing Rock and Boone. Don’t forget about Banner Elk, home to Apple Hill Farm, one of the most unique places to visit in our state. The area around these towns offer some of our favorite waterfalls and hikes, too.

And in the Foothills, we can’t leave out Shelby and its surroundings in Cleveland County. Here are some articles on this part of the state that people keep returning to read.

Western NC Travel Posts

We created a Western North Carolina Travel section to give these spots even more attention!

Central North Carolina

As the most populous part of our state, we offer tons of coverage on Central North Carolina and the many familiar places there. That conversation starts with Charlotte, North Carolina’s largest city.

Of course, there’s Greensboro and Winston-Salem in the Piedmont Triad, which are a couple of the most popular places people search for on our site.

We’re also partial to the Research Triangle, which includes the tight-knit cities of Raleigh and Durham, along with UNC-dominated Chapel Hill. We’ve even discussed the small towns that surround these three cities.

Central NC Travel Posts

Our Central North Carolina Travel section covers this part of the state in much more detail.

Eastern North Carolina

Then there’s Eastern North Carolina and the Coast. Our favorite haunts in the Outer Banks and more coastal favorites like Topsail Island form a big part of this section.

Many folks from the area between Raleigh and Wilmington will know that this is a hotbed of amazing small towns, including the historic New Bern and Kinston.

And of course, we couldn’t leave out three towns with a heavy military presence nearby: Goldsboro and its surroundings in Wayne County, Jacksonville and Onslow County, and Cumberland County’s very own Fayetteville.

These places are just a few of the awesome spots in Eastern North Carolina we can’t wait to revisit.
